Aeromarine AS
From PlaneSpottingWorld, for aviation fans everywhere
The Aeromarine AS was a seaplane fighter aircraft evaluated by the US Navy in the early 1920s. Other than the fin], it was configured as a conventional biplane on twin pontoons. The sole example of the original design, designated AS-1 had an inverted fin. The next two aircraft, AS-2 had cruciform tails and larger radiators.
Both versions were powered by Wright-Hispano E engines of 300 hp (220 kW), giving the AS-2 a top speed of 114 mph (183 km/h).
