Hello and welcome to Issue 4 of The Transport Journal.
As you can see, we STILL need more users at Planes - Please, Please, PLEASE help! Or even if you know NOTHING about Planes, ask around your friends... you never know who might be interested. Have an idea to improve any wiki? Please message me at any of the wikis.
In other news this month, an assessment scheme has been rolled out across Trains - read more below - to try and identify our best articles. Currently the scheme is hear to simply identify what articles need more work, which workforce a page belongs to etc.
At Planes, work has started on the Promotion committee, and the Village Pump, which will be known as The Terminal.
That's about it from me this month,

WE NEED USERS AT PLANESPOTTINGWORLD -
NO USERS = NO REVENUE = FAILURE OF ALL SPOTTINGWORLD PROJECTS INCLUDING TRAINSPOTTINGWORLD
Message from first issue
Hi and thanks for subscribing to The Transport Journal. The Transport Journal was set up to inform users of SpottingWorld projects of the latest goings on in our projects including new processes, current big discussions, any events and some news as well as the goings on in the real transport world. We hope that this weekly newsletter can get users more involved with the community by informing users of what is going on. This will become more useful as the community grows larger.
Thanks,

All users are welcome to submit content for this newsletter, regardless of whether they are an editing volunteer, at Project:The Transport Journal/Submit.
Did you know that PlaneSpottingWorld has been running for nearly as long as TrainSpottingWorld but doesn't have a single active user?

PlaneSpottingWorld needs your help

Hi. Its been another quiet week for PSW with no new users and still no active users. Please message BG7 on his talk page at any of the SpottingWorld projects or put your idea down at swplane:Planes talk:Community Portal if you have any ideas on getting new users.

So, where to start?
The assessment scheme has begun being rolled out across the wiki. Slambo puts it like this: "Content assessment: Slambo rolled out updates to a few talk page templates ({{swtrain:tl|UKR}} and {{swtrain:tl|USR}}) and created a new template ({{swtrain:tl|assessment}}) that enable Train Spotting World editors to classify articles by their overall quality and importance to various workforces. The templates also help the workforces sort articles with open tasks, such as those that need improved referencing, images or maps."
TrainSpottingWorld are also trying to get on the Interwiki Map, meaning that we can be linked to from many other wikis, including Wikipedia. To do this, we need lots of original content, not on any other wiki on the Interwiki Map. Slambo put's it like this: "Content building: Slambo is going through the web archives at the United States National Transportation Safety Board adding content to the various year and anniversary pages. The accident reports freely available in the public domain include detailed information on the minor through the more spectacular accidents that have occurred in the last 40 years, and could provide the basis for complete articles on each incident.
Aswell as this, we need more people to pick up years (etc) and to make the page for a year "complete". Even ten minutes every so often would be good. A full list of those that need to be worked on can be found here.
TSW now has a Fan-fic section. Anyone wishing to submit fan-fic (about Thomas or any other types of trains at all) may, as long as they keep it out of the informational sections, and in the fan-fic sections.

- Guidelines:Commercial links and advertising is up for discussion at the Station Cafe, edits, and formalising. All interested parties please at least read it, add and subtract what you feel is right, or simply discuss it.
- There has been some dispute over "ownership" of FanFic articles this week. Pick up the discussion here

A request for help at PlaneSpottingWorld
- It is very clear that PSW is lagging behind TSW by quite a distance. There are currently very few admin pages, no unique articles, no community and the most viewed pages are blank. For this reason, I would urge anyone to help out with admin or content or at least encourage other users to join, maybe from WP.

Over the past month or so, Talyllyn Railway No. 1: "Talyllyn, has been in the works for a re-paint. This started with a lovely pink undercoat, to a dull grey undercoat, and now a cool black coat of paint.
